LOADING AMMUNITION.
(1) Load each ammunition box, placing the points of the rounds as indicated
on the box and laying the belt in layers in the boxes so that the sound with
the single loop link projecting is at the bottom. Approximately 582 rounds
are required tofill each box.

(2) Feed a belt of about 112 rounds down each feed chute do,.ible-loop
link first, using the ammunition Stop levers in the chuting near the gun to
temporamy stop the ammunition.
(3) Release the ammunition stop levers and feed the first round into each
gun.

(4) Connect the free ends of the belts in the chuting to the free ends of
the belts in the boxes


CLEANING.
(1) Precautions should be taken to keep dust and dift out of the turret.
Cover plates must be kept in place except when servicing operations are being
performed. This work should be done in surroundings as dust-free as possible.

(2) Particular care must be taken to prevent the entry of foreign matter
into the hydraulic units. The most common cause of trouble with these units
is the presence of lint, dust or dirt within the hydraulic systems.

(3) Electrical contacts such as collector rings, brushes, circuit breakers
and switch contacts, terminals, and "AN" plug bayonets must be kept free of
oil and grease. Clean with a cleaning agent conforming to Specification No.
P-S-661 on a clean cloth. Use crocus cloth where necessary.

(4) Plexiglas windows have a soft surface and care must be taken to avoid
scratches during cleaning or service work. Never use coarse or dirty rags

(5) Wash the Plexiglas windows with soap and water and sponge or chamoi-s.
Naphtha may be used to remove grease. Caution,Never use solvents such as
lacquer thinner, acetone, benzene, on Plexiglas.
